P C not needed with stage 1, I have the stage 2 big bore kit and it runs fine with out P C> who ever told you you needed it was wrong. I put mine on dyno and with V&H longshots have picked up about 18 more horse power with the H D down load. The stage one only helps with better breathing and will give you more go with the harley download then with the PC.
Bandit 05 Deluxe
Conversion accomplished! I am very pleased with the results overall, and I think Harley should have made dual pipes stock like the Springer Classic. Big thanks to Mark and Linda Kamer at mandmcycles.com for the great deal on the parts!
The pipes are only slightly louder than the stock pipes, but have a deeper note. The SE Stage I kit (air cleaner) definitely makes the engine more responsive.
The project continues, and here are some things I plan to do soon:
- shorty risers & bikini beach bars
- nostalgic speedometer / tachometer combo
- various chrome covers
RE: Update: Dual Exhaust conversion on '05 Deluxe?
Looks awesome! I just saw another Deluxe yesterday with the same setup and was really impressed by the looks. Harley should really consider going that way for future Deluxe models, I think it adds a lot to the retro look of the bike...
RE: Update: Dual Exhaust conversion on '05 Deluxe?
I'm leaving the saddlebag support bracket off on the brake side for now. It looks like the mounting bolts are strong enough to hold the bags. But, I may also remove the bags altogether for a cleaner look.
RE: Update: Dual Exhaust conversion on '05 Deluxe?
Looks good Old Skool, I'm in agreement on the bags though. definitely needs bigger bags or none. Check out this bike I saw at Crazy Horse. The bags looked really good on it. I bet you'll like it as much as I did...
