I want to change from the stock risers to something a little higher and a little bit back. HD has the 4 1/2 inch pullback risers, but they appear to be borderline as to whether or not you have to re-route or change cables. One HD dealer said I wouldn't have to change but another said I probably would have to re-route. Cruiser Customizing has some 3 1/2 inch straight(no bend backwards) risers which seem to me like I wouldn't have to make cable changes. The stock setup is just a little uncomfortable but I could live with it if it meant the only other option was having to change the cables in some way. What riser solutions are out there where no cable change or re-routing is necessary?
I had a set of 4" aftermarket pullbacks I had gotten on ebay. I ran them for a year before new fat bars. I did NOT have to change anything on my 03. They worked fine. I gave them to a buddy after removing them from my bike. A friend of mine bought & installed HD pullback risers, I thought they were 4", but if HD only makes 4 1/2" then maybe that is what he has & we made no changed to his bike. They are easy enough to change, I would check J&P or some of the other aftermarket co's.
I put on 4 1/2" pullback risers from Kuryakyn and had to change absolutely nothing. I have an 05 Fat Boy. Risers not shown in the pic yet. Install was as easy as pie and made the biggest difference in the ride ever. Do it. No sweat.

I went the the other way and put miniapes on with a 2" straight riser. No rewiring or change of cables, plenty there. Don't let them suck you in. The stock fxst has a 4" pullback riser and when compared the handlebars are about the same. Just buy the risers you want and do it.
J&P has a 3 inch "tilt back" or some such description that look good to me. I will order those tomorrow. $89. They are more of a continuous curve than a straight section and then an angle. Three inches should definitley insure no change on cables. Thanks for the information everyone.
I put the 4" risers on my stock Fat Boy bars. Sweet. So much better than b4. No modifications were necessary.
You don't give your size or arm length. There's another thread on this forum that will help you find the proper placement for your bars from folks far more knowledgeable that me. You might want to check out.
