No matter what you do, the lower you go, the worse it rides. That being said, the best static shock you can put on it would be the progressive 422/413. That would give a better ride than the stock shock with a bolt kit at any given height. The air ride gives you adjustability on the fly, but I don't know that for a given height, the ride is any better than the Progressive's. On the fly adjustability is pretty "fly" though!

My sig pic is from last summer, when I still had air ride on it. The rear was slammed, but the front was stock. Since then, I've removed the air (wasn't that impressed with it). I went back to HD stock shocks in the rear, lowered 1.5", and lowered the front 1.25" using the progressive kit.

I think they ride better when mildly lowered - they seem to come from the factory calibrated for 2-up riding. My NT is setup for solo only, and handling improved after dropping the rear 1" (I also softened the shock preload at the same time).

I installed 422 in the rear and dropped it about 1.5". Installed progressive kit in the front and dropped it 1". I still have to adjust the preload. it does ride stiffer.
