I noticed almost everyone I see that has lowered their bikes seems to run a solo seat. I ride 2 up most of the time. Is it not really recommended to lower when you ride two up?

I went with the bolt kit (cause I'm thrifty like that) and slammed it.
However, after my first long ride (3hrs) I felt like my kidneys were gonna explode. I took it back and had it raised back up about a 1/2 inch. The difference was hardly noticable when looking at the bike, and I don't pee blood anymore. (a little exageration, but you get the point)

I have my bike lowered 2 inches front and back and even though I usually ride single, my girlfriend and I do make some day trips...up to about 200 miles. I have had no issues with the bike being lowered and making these trips, even on some substandard California roads. Our combined weight is somewhere around 315'ish...no problems!

I just installed a pair of Ultima ($30, thanks ebay!) shocks last weekend. I'm down almost three inches and it rides like a hardtail. Looks good though!

Those guys are right about the gorilla putting on the factory shocks, you'll want a length of pipe to slip over your wrench. Also, dropping mine as far as I did made it a real bitch to get at the rear shock bolt since it extended them back above a frame crossmember. A set of "stubby" wrenches would have been nice. Actually, the money for a mechanic would have been even nicer. Sig pic is pre-slam.
