Default Quick question

I just bought a new light bar with lights for the X-bones and need an answer to a question. It's chrome and I don't like a lot of chrome. Should I paint it gloss black to match my headlight or powder coat it gloss black? Can I get the paint to stick to the chrome? I've never painted chrome. What so you think.

Rough up the chrome first, with some sandpaper. That way, the paint or powdercoat will stick. If you're gonna use paint, then use a good quality primer after roughing up the chrome and before you paint.

I painted over a chrome license plate holder I had. I painted it Gloss black for my X-Bones...oh wait, vivid black.

Regardless, I sanded the surface a bit and painted it without primer even, but it was a small piece so you may want to use primer.

Hell, I am toying with the idea of painting a few other parts with BBQ paint. If it doesn't turn out....powder coater to the rescue. That is what they used to do back in the day!

Powder coat it and then spray paint over the powder coat. That way if the paint doesn't take, it will still be black.

Yaa, that doesn't look bad, maybe I'll wait and see after I get it mounted. It doesn't take that long to put them on and take them off, I hope.

Thanks for all the help guys.
