Default Accessorie Panel Removal??

I'm having trouble removing the acc panel on my fatboy because the speedo trip **** that comes out the side hole is in the way. I don't want to force it and break it. Is there some trick I don't know about?

Take out the trip ****, just unscrew the rubber boot from the outside, this will free up the trip button, then pull the trip button through the hole from the inside. Shop manual is worth its weight in gold.
