Default Hubcap won't fit

I've been running 80-spoke wheels on my '06 FLSTC without the half moon hubcap. I want to put the hubcap back on, but the outside edge of it rubs against the spokes of the new wheels, which will probably begin to nick and rust in time. I need at least 1/8" clearance between the hubcap and the spokes.

Possible solutions:
1) Leave hubcap off - But I want it on.
2) Carefully press the hubcap with spacer in a vice just enough (flatten the center) so that the spacer rests against the wheel bearing instead of the hubcap against the spokes. - But it may noticably deform the hubcap
3) Purchase a shallower hubcap. - I looked and didn't find any.
4) Add a 1/8" (or a little more) spacer on the hubcap side. This seems like the easiest answer. But, how do I keep my brake rotor spacing on the other side? And, will the axle still mount correctly with such an adjustment?

Thanks for the help!

Not sure on your 06, but on my 96' Heritage the hubcap fits snug against the spokes and is held tight with the snap ring.

My '06 hubcap had some clearance between the outside edge of the hubcap and the spokes. (If you flicked it, it would "ding" like a bell.) Maybe I'll just mount the hubcap and have it rest snug on the spokes like your '96. I don't know what yours is like, but the edge of my hubcap is sharp, not rolled or anything. Have you had any problems like rust, noise, etc?

Thanx
