Default need some advice

ok first off i have an 09 rocker c. im not use to rideing harley's or any other cruiser so maybe it just takes getting to know the bike. when i shift gear down or up some times it makes a loud klunck. is there a trick to makeing these bikes corner? mine is lowered and with the raked front end i drag my danm pegs on almost every corner and some times i dont feel like im going to make the corner. so i wind up hanging off the bike like i did with my sport bikes it does help but i feel rediculous.

oh does the thottle lag on most cruisers? i rolled on it the bike got loud but only slowly seed up. when im on a nice straight road with no traffic i love the way it feels.

I can't speak for the rocker c, but every bike I've rode always felt a little different. If you're used to riding a sport bike, the positioning of you feet, and body are different. Also the Bike you were riding before is shaped totally different. So I'd just ride more and get used to the way it feels.

I had the same problem, I found that i was diving into the corners to fast for the bike on my rc51 corners were nothing dragging a knee was normal but the softail didnt like being on her side through the corners so now I just roll off the throttle a little earlier I still spark the pegs every now and then not sure how to stop that altogether.

Sounds pretty normal to me, from a sport bike to a harley big change. The ft end rake hurts you in the corner and with it lowered in the rear the rake is now more so it turns harder, get used to it and you will be fine, its a whole differnt ride.

the klunk when throwing it into first a typical harley sound....cornering on a rocker is not going to be as easy as with some of the other harley bikes because of the wider tire...the wider you go the crappier the cornering...drug my pegs but changed them out for a pair that would take corners better

Sport bikes like dirt bikes require very little counter steering, just lean them over. Harley's require a lot all the time. If I didn't keep the thought and practice of counter steering in my head, in these mountains I'd done be dead. Remember most fatal crashes are from entering a curve too hot, and plowing an oncoming vehicle head on.

Softails have never been known for great handling- they're more about style. Combine that with the extra rake and a lowering kit, and it gets a little worse. You have to get used to it. Now, those good old FXRs were some good-handling Harleys....
