Default Do Rockers handle like ship?

So I've been riding for about three months now, first and only ride was my Rocker. I really love the bike other than being a bit too tall for it but I'm starting to notice the handling limitations. Now that I'm more confident I'm taking corners faster and I'm starting to scrape pegs a lot. I don't feel like I'm taking the corners that fast but apparently it's it fast enough. I went and took my license test this weekend and passed everything with ease except the weaving through the cones, that was a bit of a bitch. Anyway, since I have no experience on other bikes I'm just wondering how the Rocker handles compared to other Harleys. I realize the rake and back tire size don't help, just wondering how it stacks up to say a street glide or dyna.

Well most dynas wil out perform a softail. My low rider was more capable than my night train is. With the wide back tire you loose a little ability to lean that bike through the turns, and obviously with the rake slows your responsiveness with the front end. I have a friend with a rocker c that I have ridden and I like the feel of the bike, but i can whip my night train a lot better. Just my two cents.

I came from owning sport bikes for the past 9 years and jumped into my first harley 2 years ago and never looked back. Sure the rocker's responsiveness is a little slow but I feel like I can throw it around on turns pretty easily..love my rock except for the little oil leak im having now

My bro works at a dealership. When I was trying to decide on what I wanted in terms of a bike, I asked about the Rocker. He told me then, that a lot of people were finding they had bad front tire "flop" at slow speeds. Maybe due to the rake?, I'm not sure. Beautiful bike, and if they had one there when I was shopping, it would have definately been on my short list.

what do you mean by flop? ive been on many long rides keeping it at 80 mph and its super smooth other than the 180 mile an hour winds hitting me here in wyoming.

This is my first harley so as far as handling if you dont know anything else, itll be comfortable for you which is my case.

I scrap my pegs on my rocker all the time that's called riding it hard I can keep up with any night train or dyna I ride with and those guys all have scraps on there pipes and pegs as well. And as for front tire flop? I have no idea what that is I got down the highway with no hands on the bars at 70mph to 80mph all the time its rock solid on the front end.

Flop refers to the front tire wanting to turn all the way on you when making a slow turn. And yes, Rockers have this, but nothing unmanageable. Any raked front end will have flop to a certain extent.

Took the Skilled Rider Course through MSF and was doing the figure eights inside the small box with about four inches to spare. No flop with counter-steering.

Check out the "Ride like a Pro" vids. You'll learn something. My fxstc handles best out of all of the bikes I have ever owned. Corners great, but I also kick my knee out on them, and push into the turns instead of pulling. You might need a bar change.

Any time you put weight on the inside of a turn, the bike will stand up straighter.

It handles extremely well with a good front end, oem is good but it could be better.
