Hi guys,
Prior Heritage Softail Classic '03 owner and just getting back into a Harley.
I spent the afternoon going back and forth between the Fat Boy or Deluxe. The Deluxe is more old school; the Fat Boy gets my juices flowing. The Deluxe fits a little better, but I remember how "fun" cleaning wire spokes were (uh, no!).
Anyone else out there have a tough time deciding between the two?
I am 57, lots of riding experience, 5'-8", short 29" arms (I wear a 30" sleeve). 30" inseem.
I've got it down to the Pearl Black or the Red Hot Sunglo.
I plan to add V&H's like I did my Heritage. Not sure which pipes yet.
I know very well that Harley's are a personal thing, but I'd be open to your thoughts. Thanks...
Sounds like you need the Fatboy. You can always swap out the seat and handlebars to give you that "just right" fit. Partial to the Black Pearl myself but either one is beautiful fursur.
Being an "older" than teenage years, is there is reason your not considering the heritage again?..I ride an 03 Heritage myself, and have owned several others.. I am a fan of the Heritage for many reason, but if I were choosing between the 2 you stated, I would go with the Deluxe for the old school looks. I have liked them more every time I see one..the black with the wide whitewalls is sharp.
the fatboy USED to et my blood pumped, but the more I have looked at them the past few years, the more I am disliking them..to each is own tho...
Choose a bike that fits you well, that calls your name, and one you will be proud to own..Good luck either way.
