I've lifted mine numerous times with the jack under the shocks, never had any damage. I don't strap it to the jack unless I'm doing some major wrenching on it or taking heavy parts off that will effect the balance. It's made of metal, not glass.

I have a night train and use my lift just to the front of the shock cyclinders - works fine. You can tell when you lift it that it's in the front end of the "sweet spot" but it's plenty stable.

I lift my Standard with the Sears lift but I place the rear of the jack on the cross brace just ahead of the shocks. The bike stays level and lifts fine. However, the Standard has an FX front versus the FL of the Fat Boy or Heritage.

Heritage also with the yellow Sears jack...

Lift just a taste in front of the shocks with no blocks at all... No problems.

I have had the Sears lift for quite awhile now and have no problem with it, using it on my Heritage I position it just in front of the shocks and have no problem lifting the bike to any height, I do have to run the front wheel up on at least a one inch piece of wood to get the jack under the bike. Make sure ya use the straps once ya get her up in the air where ya want her.

Heck, I've STORED mine all winter long on the very same jack and had no probs, but I will get the HD frame pads! Only 15 buck for
insurance. Happy riding!
