Default paint code?

I just ordered a new fender for my 08 train. I was wondering if anyone knew the paint code for vivid black? Also does anyone know a good body shop in northern jersey (bergen county area)?

paint code is usually in the VIN number. Any reputable body shop should be able to match the paint with that number.

That's why I asked if anyone knew any good shops in my area. The two shops I went to had no way of looking up paint codes on bikes I was told. I worked for a jeep dealer for a long time and knew how to pull a paint code but I'm new to Harleys. I know you need certain software to get paint codes off of a vin. I guess they don't do enough bikes to invest in it.

harley davidson does NOT provide paint codes for any bike or any color. i just went through the same thing on my 05 standard. if you go to harley they can give you a part number wich is for a can of paint. i was lucky to have a body shop be able to find a color from ppg that came very close. i was very upset to find out harley does not give out paint codes. so good luck with the project.

and let me guess. harley charges a ridiculous amount for the can. my pops ordered a small tube of touch up paint for his bike which was five times more than you would pay for the same paint from a car dealer.
