Internal Throttle

I am looking around and pricing and thinking about trying to clean up the bars some. Was wondering what the general thoughts about internal throttle set ups are. Are they worth the time and money? Are they really just for bar hopping bikes or can they handle long trips and such? What would be the best place to get such a set up from?
