makes an adapter which enables you to add a factory HD cruise control to your softail. At over $400 and a big can on the side of the bike sure isn't worth it to me. Don't know how much HDs cruise control is but I wouldn't doubt you'd have $900 or more in the job before you were done.
I have a $12 throttle mate that I use on road trips when I want to rest my hand. Serves the same purpose as the Kuryakyn I believe. Weakness is if you get into hills the throttle position remains the same meaning the bike slows.
I'm not a big user of cruise control. Have it in my cage and have never used it. If I decided I have to have it on my bike, I'll buy a tourer.
For now I'm happy with my throttle mate and crampbuster for long ride comfort.

2008 Heritage Classic: His
2008 Deluxe: Hers
I bought one from Customized Cycle, Inc. I installed it myself. It was a big job but worth the work & price (650.00). I went on a 3,700 mile trip after the install & it works great. I tried the thumb wheel but I didn't like it.. Good luck.
At $600, it's not cheap, either, but I've heard it works just like the OEM Touring cruise control.
Like has been said a couple times, I put this one on my '03 Heritage. It is a very well engineered product which used factory parts. It is pricey though. The parts are the black switch covers, black cables etc. so if you already have or are gonna switch to chrome housings, cables etc., plan on buying these parts again. I was into mine just over a grand but to have factory cruise, and not many softails can say that, and be able to relax that right hand like all those touring riders, was worth it to me. I can get some pictures sometime if anyone is interested.
I thought I would like one but did a long trip this fall with 6 bikes and the guy with the cruise control was a pain in the butt, always lagging and splitting the group. I only see it being worth while if you do long trips by yourself or with someone else with cruise also. In a group you are always changing speed, can't be helped. We finally all passed the cruise guy and made him ride in back.
if I was going with cruise control it would be that new magnetic one. I find by the time my hand is tired by butt is too and don't forget the bladder breaks. I have a throttle boss for the grips and it works great. All I do is group ride. http://www.kuryakyn.com/index.cfm/go...ID/89/IMID/110
