my dad has an 03 ultra classic, and he has the stage 2 kit, he says that unless your riding up hill, towing a trailer, and have a fat old lady on the back, you wont tell any difference, but its sure cool to have.
I dont know, but dad always had a dark sense of humor.
I have the stage 1 kit on my 06 nightrain but it was already done when i picked it up at the dealer.
Thanks everyone, I appreciate the advice. I just made arrangements with my dealer,Ray Price H-D in Raleigh, to have the work done on May 10. It will include the SE Stage one for the intake and H-D SE II performance slip ons, baloney cut. I don't want to go quite as loud as the V&H pipes.
Thanks again. Now I can't wait to be able to give you another post on May 11 saying that I "done did er"!
If it was me I would go ahead and get a good set of aftermarket pipes and be done. Not to many people I know keep the slip ons for long because they just don't have the custom look most are after.
I agree with softail bob. All aftermarket pipes are not necessarily loud. Pick what you want and see if they come with quiet baffles. V&H offers the quiet baffle with most of thier pipes. Shop around, before you make a decision.
When you all are talking about a Stage 1 is it the SE Stage 1, the big bore Stage 1? In other words is it the inexpensive one or the one that is a grand or more. I was looking on the HD site and saw several stage 1's. I am going to be buying a EGC in a few weeks and was trying to figure out what to have done immediately... thanks!
That was the only thing I got on my new bike (I have the parts Just waiting on the ride!!) It sounded so much better I got the screaming eagle 2's 1600's
