Default Engine Issues...

My setup is in my sig...here's my problem. Tonight I was riding on the highway about 60 mph (it was around 60 degrees), and the engine kept cutting out and hesitating. It's never done that before, and I don't know what the deal is, and as you can expect, I'm not very pleased with it. Anyone have any ideas where to begin looking for the problem?

Do you have anything for fuel management such as a Power Commander,Fuel Pack, Thundermax or SERT since you have changed the air cleaner and pipes? That might be the problem if you do not. Once you change the air cleaner, allowing increased air flow, you need a fuel management set up as well.

Mine did that once several months ago when I ran it low on fuel. Filled up and went home. When I got back out it stumbled for a block or two and then took off like nothing was ever wrong. Never happened again. Over 17,000 miles on the bike now.

i have a power commander. it's been sitting for a couple weeks (trying to buy a house right now, so she lives outside under a cover). It is sort of low on fuel, so I'll check that. I did just put a new lower profile seat on not too long ago, maybe it is affecting one of the ground connections. I'll check that stuff out in the morning when it's not dark outside.

Try a little heat then fill it up with good gas. Sounds like you may have water in the gas being is was low and sitting outside.

Well, figured it out. The place I originally mounted the PC wasn't working apparently (not at all). It had come loose, and was rubbing against the tire, and apparently messing with the buttons on the unit. The PC now has some serious road rash from the tire, but, luckily I was able to reload the map, a little duct tape and a new mounting location behind the oil tank, and everything is good! It doesn't look the prettiest, but I'm not about to go out and buy a new PC over a little rash. Besides it still works, so no harm no foul. I think a little duct tape on the PC adds that special "custom" look that you may not find anywhere else!
