Default Installing New Headlight/Taillight

Hey folks,

I've ordered a Billet Headlight, Tri-Bar LED taillight, fender rack, and retro k/q seat for my '09 FXSTC. They're all HD parts. I'm sure the fender rack and seat will be no-brainers, any tips or tricks on the headlight and taillight? Extra precautions when removing the tank? Thanks in advance!

Mark

P.S. - I did order the install kit for the taillight and fender rack to work together, and I've tried searching but couldn't come up with anything.

Make sure you loosen the fender rails when doing the taillight. I don't remember them putting it in the directions, but if you don't, installing the Tri-bar will be a bitch.

tail light is easy.... as long as you loosen the fender rails as previously mentioned...
as far as removing the tank.... buy a new crossover fuel line and clamps... (good opportunity to go braided if so inclined) the stock clamps will be destroyed when removed..
also protect the front rocker box cover... good chance of scratching it when removing or installing the tank...

With the fender rails loosened, the new taillight and fender rack were a breeze! I picked up some smoked blinker lenses too, I love the way the back of the bike looks now. The blacked out taillight/blinkers work really well with the fat tire. I'll try to get some pics up this weekend. Thanks for the tips!

I picked up a service manual, so I have some reading to do before I attempt the headlight install.
