I updated the firmware and that cleared all the setting. I just followed the initialization process and followed it exactly and it worked great. not hard to do but take your time to read thru it a few times. there was only one choice for softail for what you and i have. HDTSSQVCUG082807. i also did not use the cd, i downloaded the program from the web and updated it.

Thanks, I appreciate the feed back. I feel more comfortable now, I was reading the Adobe PDF manual while waiting for UPS and was starting to get worried when I saw spark advance and front verses rear ect...but it sounds like that is for more hard core mechanics that want more control over the tuning.

The Power commander V with Autotune is about 200 dollars cheaper and does the same thing.

I think you are correct. A friend just had one installed on his 05 SE Fatboy and loves it, says it's the best thing he has done to it

I just installed it last weekend....and if I can install it anyone can! After reading about for weeks about "which way to go..." and getting more and more confused... I'm glad I chose the TM.... I didn't want any "plug in" mainly cuz on my bike there is 0 clearance under a corbin seat and nowhere to mount the device....but also I didn't want to be at the mercy of a dealer to go back to for tuning mods... now I can learn something about engines too..and just by plugging in my laptop can see how she's running... plus with the autotune, don't really have to do much except follow the directions.. it was one of he few decisions I struggled with that I'm glad I made.. with the stock 96" engine...it's like a different bike... and if I do upgrade to a 103..well TM will take care of the tuning....automatically... no more $$ out of my pocket paying a dealer for a dyno... and one word of advice...if you are unsure of which base map to use, email zippers and ask.. Randy emailed me back the same day with the base map to use. Great product!

two yrs ago I done the SERT and have had to pay for two dynos since them about 450.00 and that adds up. done stage1 at 1k and then cams at 16k, this is probably the last time I change for a long time, till top end job needed, then another dyno, now total will be about 650.00-750.00 just for tunes.
If I done it again I would look at the others where I didnt have to pay every time I changed things....but the new and different systems are getting better and more to chose from..

Wink tmax

Enjoying my tmax, and will appreciate the no dyno for my new 103 build...can't wait to have it compete by end of month I ....hope.

Just wish i would have known about TMax option first when I got my fatty, 'cause a got a SE race tuner that from what I understand, can only be used on my bike. Sucks, can't sell the race tuner to anyone else if that is the case; what a waste of $$$$$.

Live, read, and read some more, and measure twice, and cut once etc.
