Dude im 6'1" 235 and i have a standard with 3" extensions and 10" risers with broomstick drag bars and I ride all the time(long distances) and really havent had a problem. Yeah feel alittle big for it but its better than an IRONHORSE POS.
Maybe the key word from Chrome Dome Dave is "Ride all the time"?
I must say my 05' FI Train is almost like a new Toyota or something even compared to my old 1988 Heritage. It dosent shake, rattle, or do anything dramatic or sketchy. It dosent leak. It dosent sputter. It dosent need to be "Enriched" It always fires right up and I can ride it literally anywhere in the country on any day.
The build quality on these late model Harleys is really incredible. That would be hard to give up. I have had this bike for just a few months and I'm already way spoiled. It always does....What its supposed to do!
I though I would miss the quirks, smells, rattles and wierdness of my old Heritage.....Not even. Not even close. My bike is stupid reliable and is my daily transport on all but the coldest days.
Buy a Bike you like and get the seat and bars you need. No harm.....No Foul!
I am tall, there is no way around that. I actually considered a Sportster at first, rode it but wasnt comfortable for me. After doing the 3 inch extension for the forward controls (a year after buying the bike), it feels great.
Lots of posts on this and being a big guy myself @ 6'3 300+lbs I know where your coming from. I love the way my train feels,I sat on and test rode quite a few different models but the Train just fit me like a glove. No offense but I think it's all in your head, but I also know sometimes that's all that matters..Our own self image. For what it's worth I think you fit that bike great but go with your heart.
