Zacharia, That's some fantastic information. Thanks for taking the time to help me and thanks also to everyone who responded. Damn, I love this forum.

I agree that the lights are weak. Came back from a little ride around town the other night (first night out) and couldn't believe how weak the light was, flipped to high beam and it got worse.

There is another thread floating around on the same topic. I was reading it a little and many are commenting on the effect of the more powerful light vs the actual headlight assembly.

What I got out of it was that the refelctivity of the housing probably has a bigger impact than a swap in bulb. For the cost i think I would attempt a bulb swap before I did a housing swap.

I have yet to do either as its too damn cold for me in the evenings to really enjoy getting out for a ride.

At night on dark streets the low beams are pretty bad but hight beams solve the problem for me, I would check the adjustment to be sure.

I noticed an improvement from my 08 Nightster to my 09 Crossbones. It's impossible they are the same lights!

The headlight is much more usable on the Crossbones. Not perfect, but functional.

My train was the same way - too high. I had to adjust it to my liking.
