Got my Duece new in 05 and found out all of the universal softtail parts wouldn't work. There was parts that would after being ordered. Then I took a real long look at the bike in my garage. I decided that no one could design a more ugly rear fender. Started to turn me off the bike. I tried side mount plate mounts.....didn't help. Put VH shorty pipes on it. Couldn't here myself think. With the intake and power programmer I think it made it more "touchy" to ride. The powerband was not as smooth. My dream hot rod harley wasn't working out. I traded it in at my local harley shop with 1650 on the OD last month for a 09 Heritage. Like the look all around, smooth powerband with the bigger motor and it is so much more comfortable for the wife an me.
I have had my deuce since the weekend before the Superbowl and already pushing close to 2,ooo miles. I ride as often as I can. The Rear Fender is part of the Deuce and ya either like it or hate it. It seperates it from other bikes. It is... a "CLEaN" lookin bike. It's all about the individual and his/her tast. I have a friends 76' Shovel Head and o5' Road king in the Garage and I like the feelin of the Deuce. But thats me.
had a 07 and traded it as OCT1949 said..had almost 7,000 miles on..I think the tank was actually what bothered me. it was real narrow and laid flat, needed to be upswept. yes they are sweet rides, but when you know what you want and you have something different its always there eating at ya. Indianapolis Harley had mine for 4 days including the day they picked it up before it was sold. guy in the next county over bought it and iv seen him out on it. dont miss it that much. Love my Train!
Here was a pic of my 07 deuce had VH BR's and a 204 cam
Great thread. I had often wondered about what made a deuce a deuce. Now I know! Must say that until it was mentioned and I saw the pictures, I had never noticed the similarity of the fuel tank to a Rocker.
I have a 2003 Screamin Eagle Deuce. I'd like to know exactly what is it about the Deuce model that differentaites it from the other Softail models. I've looked at pictures of the two and I don't really see any major differences. I know the Screamin Eagle differences, but what are the regular Deuce differences? Are they internal in the motor only?
The Deuce has a longer, narrower tank, but uses the same frame as all softails. There's a freaky mount adapter at the rear of the tank that allows it bolt to the regular frame.
