Default Question for Cheescake...

Or anyone else who got the Shade Tree fender kit for the crossbones.

Do you have something covering the battery? If so, what?
Also, the time to switch out the fenders back and forth is a concern as I may need to bag it occasionally. I have heard from someone on the board that the RSD fender kit can be changed pretty quick and easy. Can the same be said for the Shade Tree Kit?

Thumbs up

I modified the stock battery cover....right now it's in the project stage....

I would think that you could swap the RSD quicker since all you would have to do is unbolt the struts and make the swap...
maybe an extra 10 minutes to do the Shadetree....

I was going to go with the RSD fender... but it is just basically a new rear softail fender...
the Shadetree is a hugger fender... similar to the Rock.....

IMO two animals...

A few things you will need first to make the swap quick and easy. A new wiring harness, brake light and turn signals and you will have to relocate your ECM. 4 strut bolts and unclip the wiring harness and the stocker is off.

It looks great!
So you basically cut the battery cover and put some kind of rubber mat underneith it? I wonder how that battery cover mod would look if you put the stock fender back on.

It looks amazing as it is though.

I have to admit, I get nervous about not having the brake signal on the rear fender. It just doesnt seem visible enough for me on the side. I know a lot of people do it though. The clean fender look is the best.

I'm going with the clean fender on my Bones. My turn signals are run, brake, turn so I am just using those as brake lights. I will post some pics this week.

Yep...that's it....
I hope to have the whole area covered in leather soon...

I don't think it would look that great with the stock fender...when you relocate the ECU there is a flat area where it once was... and a few holes...

white guy had a cool cover that went from the dash panel to the ECU... check out some of the old pictures of his bike...

yea... I know the feeling... I was going to nix the turn signals... but they do help in the quest to be seen....

I was going to have my turns function as running / brake lights also... but when I wired everything up IMO it took away from the side mount tail light....and looked funky...

I still might loose the turns....
