I start off in 2nd all the time. The launch is hard on my clutch though.

The 211's cams running with ported heads, some extra compression and a decent pipe are screamers. I'm convinced that my motor wont see 40K with catastrophic failure.

I get 125 miles around town from filled to low fuel light.....

Its loud and angry through a set of baffled BSS. My upcoming pipe change to a Rinehart Rich Urban Biker Sooper Poseur 2-1 pipe should make for an interesting comparo on the dyno after having it tuned....

I wouldnt be suprised a bit if those Big Shot Staggereds make more HP and dont give up but maybe 2-3 TQ against the Riney....Wouldnt be suprised a bit.

Just to shiny? For my upcoming plans!

If you just wind your B motor to 5,200rpms you will be doing close to
40 in 1st, 60 in 2nd, 80 in 3dr, 100 in 4th.

also again the Big Boyz webpage has a MPH vs RPM page to help you....

here is another good web site to check out. www.harleytechtalk.net it's all about performance from harley's. there are a lot of dyno sheets and a lot of different builds, and a lot of engine builders on there that really know there stuff and and answer about any question.

Guess I'm a ***** :-) I've hit 35 mph in 1st before which must be around 4800 rpms and I've hit 60 mph in 3rd many times. And each time, I'm blown away by the power. Do wish I had a tach sometimes. I think I would push this bike harder if I knew what rpms I was running. Guess I'm still a little concerned to blow my bike up. I know, guys tell me, don't worry, you'll hit the rev limiter, but guess I ain't got the nads to take my $20K investment to the limit.

Well that makes sense as my peak horse power is at 5500 RPM. I hold it wide open and hammer into 2nd right at 43, Shift into 3rd gear when I'm going over 60. Thats when I'm "On It". Most of the time I just sputter around!

I swear this build would breathe straight fire down at sealevel. The power loss up here is amazing.

Tjose Big Boyz heads are cheap for the gains they are getting.

Look at these dyno runs.http://www.bigboyzheadporting.com/forumdisplay.php?f=4

I hit 50 in 1st and that's when it bounces the limiter. It's better for me to shift at 45-47 from 1st to 2nd. I hit 75 in 2nd and 95 in 3rd without hitting the limiter. My limiter is set at 6250 rpm. My max HP is at 5800 rpm and still have 105 torque. Gotta hang on!

With 50k miles and all the stuff you are considering, do not disregard pistons and boring cylinders. If you have the heads off for head work, and gas tank, rocker covers, rockers boxes, breather... you are only a couple bolts away from covering all the bases and having a complete motor rebuild. Pistons and bore will cost only about $300 with gaskets if you do the work yourself. Most importantly, you will definitely feel the difference verses just a cam, and pipes...

I did not do a top end rebuild when I installed the cam because I bought the bike used last summer and it only had 1,000+ miles. When it has ~30k miles, it will come apart again. It will need new tensioners then, and while at it, BB for sure - cant wait!!

rework my heads, bore my jugs, new adjustable pushrods, pistons, and so on, with gear driven cams - no chain
