Default Question about 08 NT primary

I have recently developed alot of what feels to be slack in my drive train on my 08 night train. My primary also seems like it is lounder than normal on the motor end. The clutch feels fine. The problem is when I let of the gas there is some slack and then when you get back ont the gas there is slack. Happens in every gear. Has anyone had any trouble with the chain tensioner? Could something be wrong with my compensator? Thanks for the help.

I hate that they took away the inspection window on the new primary cover, i would at least like to be able to check the chain without removing the whole outer primary cover. It's an 08 and under warranty take it to the dealership and have them look at it and test ride it. They can tell better than you if anything is out of the norm

The problem is that the dealer has a 2 week lead time and they told me that the tensioner, chain, clutch etc. are wear intems and not usualy a warrenty item.

Stand your bike upright without using your kickstand, pull the primary cover off and have a look see, as long as the bike is vertical you won't loose any oil.

If you pull the primary off all the fluid comes out too. when you stand it up you can remove the derby cover without leaking fluid. You won't see that much either through the derby cover.

What your describing sounds like driveline lash...i have the same problem on my X Bones...from new...definitely a problem that should be addressed,,,a better description is like a loose chain on a chain drive rear...let us know what the STEALER says...and should be under warrantee IMHO

The chain is tight right know. The tensioner looks like it is working fine. There are some light chain marks in the cover. It must of been loos at some point. My freind has a 2007 night train and when we took the pimary off of that it had chain marks in the cover as well.
