power loss
be easy on me im a newbie
i have a 2006 springer softal classic(flstsci) 8,000 miles
25 degree injectors
vance & hines fishtail slipons(mufflers only) with a stage 1 download and screaming eagle air breather. this is where it gets fun.
i will be riding the bike just out joy riding not pushing hard,it dies on me,loss of engine power, not a eletrical issue because you can click off and back on and she will start back up as your going down the road(just not very safe)and then other times you have to pull over and completley shut down and start back up.the bike does have decell pop.it has been to harley twice to replace the crank position sensor and i told them both times about the loss of power.the second time it was in (2 weeks ago) 4 techs drove over 60 miles and they could not reproduce my problem, they tell me i need a race turner.i spoke with the "race tuner" tech and he seems to think that the tuner will not fix the loss of power problem.
has anyone else had a issue like this, any info would be appreciated

well sounds like fuel or bad coil or bad ground. it is going to drop dead soon and then you will know what it is. try a 1/4 can of berryman b12 injector cleaner. maybe mount a volt meter to the bike and see what happens when it slows.
Something with the injectors maybe. Dids you get the 25 degree injectors on that recall deal they had going on a while back? If so I almost wonder if the stage 1 download you have is compatible with the 25 degree injectors....Those are sending way more fuel. Like 15-20% I would pull a plug and see whats up with coloration. You very well may be sloppy rich running a canned stage 1 download with those injectors.
Needless to say it needs a good tech who can find the issue. Something tells me that between those injectors and the download is your issue.Did the dealer who tried to replicate the issue dyno it with a sniffer in the pipes to see how rich or lean it was running???
I personally would take that bike to a skilled local tuner who uses direct link and have it properly tuned on the dyno.
If that wasnt available I would in fact belly up and buy a SERT. I just wouldnt want the dealer dynoing and tuning it!!! I like a good indy who just tunes not a peach fuzz faced kid fresh outta MMI who is without a clue.
Good luck Bro. Let us know what it turned out to be. A bad coil would be nice....A ground loose would be nicer but what you are describing and you having those high flowing injectors.......Let us know!!!
There different maps for the 25 degree injectors, like with stage 1 stuff, without stage 1, stage 2 etc..etc..
I wonder if the dealership loaded the wrong map? I wonder if said peach fuzzed fresh outta MMI kid loaded the thing incorrectly.
