Default 09 Deluxe+RSD+Thundermax+V&H=?

As I have posted before, I'm coming stateside in 2 weeks and taking delivery of a brand new Deluxe in Charlotte, NC. I am going to add everything in the title (in the hotel parking lot if need be) and ride out the next day to London, KY (360 mile trip). Are there any precautions I should take changing out to true duals, the Thundermax, and RSD a/c prior to hopping on the highway and heading to the in-laws? I know the question of break-in has been asked numerous times but I didn't find any pertaining to brand new bike and modifying it right off the bat. I don't want to screw this up, wife would never let me "forget" LOL

If it's your first time doing this stuff, I'd set aside 7-8 hours to do it. Break-in should still be followed, per manufacturers instructions, imo.

Only precaution should be to be careful not to twist that throttle too hard when you're enjoying your mods. Bike should run and sound pretty good with what your planning for it. Follow the normal break-in procedures like elsuper said and everything will be fine.

Advise....
don't rush it... take your time installing you stuff...
If you only have a few hours you might want to just install the exhaust... and then when you have more time do the intake and T-Max....

but your probably like me... If I get some new I'll spend all night installing it and go to work the next day with grease under the fingernails and no sleep!!!

put the 02 sensors on before mounting the pipes. run the front 02 wire over the engine and in the tank channel. release the fuel line before raising the tank. wear rubber gloves. you will need a computer to initilize the thundermax. get the deluxe (no pun intended) road side service from harley for $20, and take pictures.

Thank you all for the advise. I will have a day or two to wrench on the bike. I haven't worked on a Harley but I have on helo's and my Mustangs so not completely new to getting dirty. I have a feeling the 13 hour time difference and jet lag are going to kick my *** so I will take my time. I already have a set of Mustang seats sitting at the dealer waiting on me. I am about to order the sissy bar, windscreen, and quick disconnect hardware for the sissy bar.

Cheesecake...you are right, I get new toys and I can't sleep until I've got them on. No more working for me though, my next job after this retirement is "house dad" for my 6 and 10 year daughters. The wife has 6 more years until she gets to retire from the Corps as well.

tk...I will be ordering the Thundermax from Fuelmoto so it should be pre-loaded. I will have to look into the deluxe roadside service. It is going to be a long first trip on the Deluxe for me.

thanks again,

Wes
