None of your links led to anything specific. However I agree with you. I think the term bobber gets thrown around too freely. My understanding of bobber is that they were originally "bobbed" (unnecessary parts removed or like the rear fender, but smaller) to lighten up the bike for speed, much like cafe racers. Many bikes labeled bobber are simply just custom bikes or choppers for lack of better terms.

Welcome to riding a Harley. Don't forget to add a 'Custom' to your list of bobbed or bobtail or chopped fenders. Customs have what HD refers to as a 'flaired' rear fender.
