Hi,
I am going to put the Nostalgic engine guard on my deluxe and would like to put on the Bar and Shield pegs. The only clamp that is recommended is Harley #49132-79A but I am having a hard time finding it. I also can't seem to find the diameter of this guard listed. It seems that all of the 1-1/4" clamps are not recommended. Is this guard 1" diameter? What are others using for highway pegs on the Nostalgic guard?
I just went through the same issue. I used the 3 piece clamp (don't remember the PN) but it was 1 1/4". The concern isn't the tube but that there isnt a straight enough bend to have the clamp fit completely flush. I'm not too worrried about it and I think it looks better than the tweeser ones Harley recommends.
Better yet, I'll go snap some quick pics.... Hold tight......
Sorry, don't have pix yet, but Kuryakyn makes great ones that I use with their Switchblade pegs and they are super comfortable. You can rotate them around to suit your legs. I think they are called offset peg mounts, and are made in two sizes. Even though I'm shorter, I got the shorter version and they work perfectly.
I plan on getting the bar and shield pegs as you have done. I've had my Deluxe for 2 months and haven't been able to add as much as I would like just yet. You have one gorgeous Deluxe. My bike came with V&H staggered Bigshots. I love the sound but don't like the dirty whitewall. You have Longshots? Looks like you've done a great job making your Deluxe something special. Thanks for the info on the engine guard clamps. I'll probably do the same eventually.
