Tuning via a spark plug is like pulling the positive cable off a battery to see if an alternator works.
It used to work. It doesn't any more.
So how to you guy's tune an old carb set-up? I was under the impression that the plug's would give you a good indication of how the motor was running? Anyway, my plug's look like the motor's running a little too rich, and it is getting a little puff of black smoke when I get on it. I have an S&S carb, the bike ran awesome when I put it away last year, now where do I start to tune this thing in again? I had a pretty good procedure and explanation of how the carb work's but I can't find it.
i have a KEIHIN CARBURETOR i think..when i start it gas blows out front of carb.it runs putt putt flame putt putt flame then i give it throttle and gas blowes out carb and drowns it out
