ok i`ve never done more then a over nighter on my bike.. but i`m looking at going with some guys to sturgis and to vegas wich is about 2 1/2 days one way. just what should i think about takeing. i don`t have saddle bags. or don`t want to buy some for road trips that i may do ever few years.. kids are to young to leave at home yet..but what should i look at taking that most would forget? pack lite ride hard. is kinda what were going for..

just strap a bag to your backrest (if you have one) and sit the bag on the passenger seat. That way you can lean against it. I'd suggest getting some cheap throw over bags or at least a t-bag. You're going to have to pack rain gear and tool and a few clothes. It can be done w/o saddlebags but it's easier if you gottem.

Heck you can use a regular backpack and bunggie cord it to your back seat use it as back rest. All you need is tools (can be shared between all riding) Rain Gear, 2nd pair of jeans, maybe 2 pair of socks, 2 t-shirt (you can buy them as you go), 2 pair underwear ( or be a real man and free fly). If you really want to ride lite then pack just a simple bed roll go to nearest surplus store and get yourself a Poncho Liner, should keep you warm down to the 40's and maybe a Ponch (can make a lean too from it. Enjoy the ride
