Default hand grips/ night train

Has anyone cut off hand grips to put new ones on? I have been looking at a set of Diamond design grips, foot pegs, & shifter/brake pegs. Gets me a little nervous about cutting off anything on my bike!

Is this a job that I can do & do it right? Thx Dave

It's probably easier to just cut it off but I kept twisting mine until the adhesive released and I slowly worked it off the bar.

Right one is glued, Slice that grip off, the other will slide off. No big deal your putting new ones on. My wife did hers in an hour on her sportster. No big deal.

Got a manual? You will need to do a throttle/idle adjustment when your done.

Default Thank you Gents...

Much appreciated. Yes, I need a manual, anyway. I have the standard grips that come w/ the bike. They're in good shape, I just really like this Diamond design set I'm looking at. Comes w/ all the foot pegs & grips. Really cool! Black & chrome. Sharp!

Well if you want to try and save your old grips for some reason try rolling them off your bike, like damage inc did. You might break the adhesive. If you have an air compressor I have hear that works well to, never tried it.

Are you replacing with HD grips.
Somebody on this forum sensibly suggested to slice around the left stock grip nr the switch control and leave tht part off the grip under there as it will keep it water tight

DON'T CUT YET!
I got a '03NT...recently changed my grips and didn't have to cut
anything... they just slipped off after loosening the switch housings.

I'm with twisting till they come off. Mine tend to loosen up in the heat here in Veags. I also would make sure the new ones anen't too big. Small are better for long rides. Good Luck
