Default profile wheels vs original laced?

Does anyone know of any differences between HD laced spoke wheels and profile laced wheels? Do you7 have to use tubes with profile?

Im not sure, but the profiles look much better than the stock laced, I didnt think that until I seen them in person compared to stock, they are smooth and sharp.

Both laced wheels use tubes. The profile laced wheel is rounded whereas the std laced is stepped (where the tire meets the rim).

What Boatman said. Both use tubes but the profile are rounded vs the standard stepped design. I have the profile wheels and think they are a nice upgrade. Less "corners" means a better finish and better 'run-off' of water when parked IMO. If that checks out the finish should last longer on the profiles.

The profiles are supposed to be chrome plated aluminum wheels
While the regular laced are steel
I checked mine with a magnet and it seems to be correct.
