dual exhaust
i tried to put a set of dual exhaust on my 1998 fatboy and where the crossover tubes hook up i couldnt get them straight enough to slide together because of the shift linkage has anyone else had this problem the pipes came off a 1999 softail so i know they have been installed before thanks
Tom here from http://harleygoodies.com/ What kind of duals are you installing? When I had Samson's on, I had to use their shift linkage in order to fit it all in. My bike is a bit newer, but my guess is that is what you need.

chances are the guy that sold you the exhaust didn't realize the linkage needed to go with it.
