Purchasng a 2005 FatBoy FI this weekend and would like some input ie: pro's and con's of the FatBoy. I already know that all Harleys are good but there must be some down sides. I wanted something big but intend to put forward controls, apes and lower the rear 'cause thats how I like to ride. How do you think this setup will look and ride on the FatBoy?? Thanks for any input
All the Softails are pretty much the same, the only difference is styling. If a Fatboy is your deal, go for it. It sounds like you are going more for a chopper look. With that being the case, I might consider a Standard. It has a wide glide front end, buckhorn style handlebars and more rake angle. But if you are a chromer, it will cost more to chrome out a Standard.
I feel that the style and ride of the Harley is up to the person making the purchase. If the bike looks and feels good to you, than that's the one that you should get. As to the customizing of a Harley, I have looked at as many books and mags before the possible purchase to see which model or models lend themselves the best towards the kind of customizing that I would want to do. No offense, but I would do as much checking around first before I made the final purchase, that way I would know for sure if the bike that I was getting would be the one that I really wanted. Like I said, no offense, but some questions should be answered before any purchase is made. Good luck, hope everything works out for you.
Get a lot of my stuff on e bay and my local dealer which gives me a price cut. Eventhough I probably can get it cheaper on line. But it is so damn hard to wait.

Fatty all the way! Pro's: Perfect bike for me, you may share the same feeling. Con's: Can't seem to ride it enough... Go with the set up that you like, that's truely what's most important. Post the pics when you pick her up...
Hey Longhair, got a question about your chrome fender struts... Did yours come with the holes pre-drilled? I got a pair at a 'good' price and they look great and are 'smooth' (i.e. bolts are hidden on the inside and supposedly fits 1986 - 1999 softails, BUT the bolts do not line up with my holes and I would rather get a set that has holes or if the bolts lined up... I called the seller and got no where, apparently there must be something wrong with my bike...
Thanks!!
Thanks!!! Coincidently I got an email from the seller this afternoon saying he would take back my smooth chrome strut covers and give me full credit!! (Maybe he reads this forum??)
