Don't feel bad, I just turned 24 and got my first Harley an 08 Deluxe. Not a bad driving record, 1 minor, minor accident in my old car and 1 speeding ticket. I am MSF certified as a safe driver and EVERYONE with max coverage was at about $4,000 a year to insure me! Right now I went with Geico and dropped my uninsured motorist to about grand of coverage and now I am paying $2400 a year. F***ing ridiculous. I live in the Tampa area of Florida

I have GEICO insurance with full coverage on three motorcycles (2 Harleys and 1 Yamaha scooter) and I pay a little over $600 a year for all three. I only carry the required minimums, though, and have $500 deductibles on each.

I just renewed my progressive policy on my 2004 Softail Deuce. $460. Clean driving record, MSF course, and 25 year of age. My Sportster 883 was $265 a year.

I live in central Missouri. I insure both mine and my wifes bike (full coverage on both w/ $500 deductable) for $345 / year total (Geico). I'm 44, I've been riding and insured with them since I was 18.

Hmmm. Just thinking back to 1980 when I first bought my Low Rider. Only found one insurance company back then that would even insure me, and that was for $1,200.00 a year. I wonder what that would be in today's dollars?

H-D didn't have alarms back then, or fork locks, and I was only 22 years old. But my record was clean. They claimed that Harleys were not only the most stolen brand of any motorcycle (well, no chit) but also the easiest to steal.

They did have these two holes that would line up if you turned the forks just right, but you had to provide the pad lock for it. I usually kept a big ol' Master key lock on my belt loop while I was riding. I tried to keep it in the little leather stash pouch that came on the back of the sissy bar, but the damn lock kept flying out every time I hit a decent sized bump in the road.
