+2 on keeping an eye on air pressure. I never got less than 12,500 on the OEM Dunflops. I am on my 3rd set of Avons and the worst I got was 10K on the rear tire. This is because I ran it with too little air. Try adding a lb or 2 over what the owners manual sez, you may be surprised.

Must be different compound, I would have though the wider tire would do better than the 150 on mine.
9,7k on org. and still had a little more, but last spring we get a lot of rain, so I went new.
18.8k on her now and still more left.
At 20k I'll get both replaced, so that's a little over 10k on 2nd rear.

Also that's 95% two up riding and Grandma and I total around 400#'s

Is this a problem inherent to the Fatboy?
Is there a reason why Fatboy owners are getting such lousy mileage out their tires, I managed to get 24000kms which is just less than 15000 miles on my stock tires and the cords weren’t even showing yet. I like some of the others check my tire pressure regularly and run 40 pounds in the rear tire, maybe that helps, but generally I had no problems with the stock Dunlops.

There is a BIG difference in different size Harley tires. The 200M that comes on a 2007 and up Fatboy is totally different than 180's or other more narrow tires on other models. 200's are made with a softer compound and therefore wear quicker.

I average about 5,000 miles on a rear tire for my 2007 Fatboy with just over 28,000 miles so I have replaced a few. I use synthetic oil in my bike so it seems that every 5,000 miles I take it in for a oil change and a new rear tire. Sad but true.

I'm curious whether this is a Fatboy issue or tire type issue. I know that my Bones runs a 200 Dunlop but it is not the same as the Fatboy's stock tire (or at least it wasn't at the time I changed tires). The Bones runs a D401 200/55R/17. I got well over 12k on my first tire and the wear marks were not yet showing when I changed it out. I am approaching 20k mile on my bike and the current tire still looks pretty good. At the time, the Bones was the only model Harley that ran that specif Dunlop tire. Maybe one of these on your Fatboy might get you farther?

Just changed mine. 5250 miles, tire shot. I ran a little higher psi because of my ... weight.
