Tom from http://harleygoodies.com/ here. It all depends on the setup of your bike, where you live and how you ride. So let's start out with where do you live? How hot does it get? Does your bike have a stage 1 with a rejetted carb and/or a power commander or sert? What the average temp in the summer time and do you split lanes or sit and idle in traffic in hot weather?
Here in Ind my 07 used to run 230-240 new, 220-230/ stage 1, and now with cams added its been 205-215, I am using SYN 3 in motor, so it should be ok till 260-270, as SYN oil will stay in viscosity better than dino oils in the 250-270 range
that is why I went with stage 1 at the 1k service to help cool her down...
i got 200-224 after changing to amsoil. that would be 100 days. i have not had that warm yet after changing to mobil 1 but the temp has stayed the same so far.
