Default how much gas

my gas light was on today and the gauge read a little under a 1/4. does that seem normal? I would have thought it would need to get lower to get the light to turn on. I was riding it for a while too so it had time to read it. So i fill up and and it only took 2.6 gallons..
I have an 07 deuce and I believe its like a 4.9 gallon tank.
How many miles do I have once the gas light comes on?
Thanks all!

Go by what your computer tells you, not the gage, it is SO inaccurate.

I get between 15 - 17 km per litre.
My tank holds 18.9 litres of gas. (translates to.. between 283 - 321 kms per tank)
My gas light comes on between 190 -205 km.

that means, when my gal light comes on...I can safely get 70 more kms.
( still with me on this? )

my gas guage comes on when I have nearly 1/3 gas left in the tank....not 1/4 like the guage says.

use your trip meter instead of the guage and you'll see how accurate the guage is....your bike might differ from mine.

My light usually come on at about 160 miles and if I fill it up them it take anywhere from 1 Gallon to 1 1/2 Gallons left when I fill it back up. So I figure in and around town I have about 40 miles left once the light comes on.

That would be around 160 miles per gallon. Did you mean 4 to 4 1/2 gallons?

actually...now that I look again..
my calculations are the same regarding how far I can go when the gas light comes on..
but my light comes on at 200 km ( which would be 124 miles...not 160 miles)

That is about when mine comes on. Just a little below the red line.

I corrected my earlier post to 1-1/2 gallons left. Sorry about the confusion I was multitasking at the time I posted that.

I quit believing the gauge and the light both are very inaccurate. I use the tripometer, since i have two, one is for gas and the other is for oil, much more accurate for me.
