Bought my first Harley last week, a 96 Heritage Softtail. First time with floorboards. About 10 miles into the ride home I smelled an intermittent burning rubber smell. When I got home I found that I'd rested the heel of my right boot on the exhaust pipe. Pretty much did the same thing to a lesser degree on the next couple rides. When I got home the mark had mostly burned off.

I have personally used the Easy Off oven cleaner and it works great ! Make sure to use the cold version, leave it on for a few hours, wipes right off and no scratches.
