It was a major PITA. My advise, LOTS and LOTS of dish soap. That ended up being the best thing for me. Good luck!!

Have you heard of using a string with a nut tied onto it?

Just drop the nut into the bars and then jiggle it around until it pops out the hole by the grip. Tie the string around the wire and pull it through. You can use some silicone spray or soap if it's really tight.

I'm on my third set of bars and this trick worked every time.

Good luck!

Yeah, I had to do the nut trick as well on one side, since the crappy string they had in them broke as soon as I started to pull through. Very good advise!!

It can be simple. Here's how we do long conduits regardless of length. You only need to make sure your getting suction.

Tie a plastic bag to a string. Stick in one end of your pipe and suck it through with a vacuum. I can't see why this wouldn't work on pipes and I've heard it done there as well.

String, Nut, Beer, Soap, Cuss.

Repeat a few times and then try the Electricians trick posted above.

I know I'm gonna try that later this week.

Beer, Shop Vac, Plastic bag, string, Cuss....Blame on Obama?

Similar to the plastic bag method, you can push string through using an air compressor. Tape off all ends except the bar end you re working from and the outlet hole. Air will feed string through hole.

Of course you still have to contend with pulling wires through. On my apes I had limited trouble pulling through with only minor silicone lube required. On pullback drags with integrated risers I had more difficulty. To make life easier I stripped off outer insulation, leaving about +1" on the controls side and an extra 1" on the bottom of the bars exit point. That leaves enough to stick into the bar hole and prevent chafing but eliminates the need to have to pull all that bulk through the bars.
