I talked to my local HD Dealer about Rush slipons 2" and they said I will have to get the bike tuned, air filter, etc. About 1600 bucks total.
Then I called a HD dealer and hour from where I live they said you should be able to just put them on and ride if it doesnt run right you may need a reflash. About 350 bucks total.
My question is who is right. I dont want to spend a bunch of money if I do not need to. I have a 2008 FLSTC.
Simple: exhaust only and you do not need anything else.
Air cleaner: you need a fuel management system
I put on some rush 2.0 slipons and my bike popped a lot on decel. However, the ECM does have some learning capabilites and now it isn't bad at all. In fact, I love the popping.
Get the slipons for now until you decide the direction your bike is gonna go.
I put Rush 2.0 on my 05 Deuce and I did not have to re-map a friend with an 08 Wide Glide did.
If you are not going to a full system I think the Rush pipes are great I have 5000+ miles on mine and they still sound good.
Good luck
Glen

Thanks for all the posts they are helpful. Well I was hoping to save that money so I can buy other things. I didnt want to stick 2 grand into just exhuast right now.
I installed Rush 2" and did nothing else for about 1000 miles...had no problems.
Later I decided I wanted highflo AC which then required me to install a fuel mgmt system and I had it dyno.
