and all I can say is wow. I am still in the breaking period, but things rocks now. A serious difference in low end torque, and the new added sound is beginning to become enjoyable too. I am still yet to hit it hard at all, but I am very happy with this inexpensive mod. I will be putting anew map on most likely tomorrow or Sunday night and see how that affects it.
To anyone who is considering a cam swap, I say go for it. I did it with the help of a friend and saved an azzload of cash. Also, if you have a 2000-2006 bike with the orange cam chain tensioners, you can repalce those with new ones or use the newer cam plate/oil pump upgrade to eliminate the neceissity of doing this again. I had already ordererd all my parts a while back so I jsut replaced the stock with the same thing, but next time I plan on upgrading everything.
Glad to hear that they work that good. I will do mine at the end of the year. I plan doing what you did, getting the parts together and then just do it. This cam sounds to be just what I am looking for, thanks for the info
Not sure what cams you installed but I installed a set of geardrive s&s 560 cams and noticed a little difference. Maybe more just mental knowing that my cam chain tensioners were ready to break off after only 25K miles on my bike.
Good job! Nothing like doing it yourself, saving some $$ and getting to know your bike inside and out! Glad you like the tq improvement. Despite what some think, these bolt in cams do make a nice diff!
Not completely sure what cams you used but if it was me I would def suggest a dyno tune. Get all the power from it you can! Even though you know your way around a wrench
