103 build done get to pick up Friday!
The heads were what took time to have done, Baisley in Portland did them, worth the wait though.

I get about 120 miles to the tank around town on my 95" stage 3 build. Thats on a stock unmolestered throttle body!!
My bike will not start hot without being in nuetral. The 1st gear engage clutch and push button thing dosent work. Starter cannot crank the bike. Its dosent really like to be started hot after getting fuel....So pull in the station, gas up, smoke a ciggy or do something for a minute or the starter really struggles. I'm about to have manual comp releases installed as without them its an issue for sure. My starter will be lucky to see christmas!!
A high compression Harley motor dosent like to sputter around below 2500 RPM. They do not like a sudden handfull of throttle under load at low low RPM's. They like to have the throttle rolled under load at low RPM.
High comp motors want to detonate and ping.....You dont want a newbie buddy on your high comp build putting around. Your tuner will Eff around with the timing and you can hunt around for 93 Octane gas but a built harley with 190 PSI and up is succeptable to these issues with the cam choice and tuners ability to tune being the motors saving grace from hammering itself into oblivion.
A built motor with high compression and much more than a 100HP/110TQ on a stock Harley crank is gonna start working on twisting or slipping the stock crank from the first time its started. My next move with my 95" build is to go with a stroker crank 103" build with a welded crank.
Keeping in mind that Moco simply took the same piston and jug size as the twin cam 88 and simply added their stroker crank and made the pistons a touch shorter to accomodate the longer stroke of the 96"......big bore 103's that start out life as a 96's need strong cranks too as the factory piece can only take so much power on a build before it starts to head south as well.
These downsides are more than outweighed by the upsides of a good solid build. My bike runs like a Nextel cup series car. Its loud, it pulls like the beejeezus, suprises many an unsuspecting Roadstar owner at the stoplights and gosh darnit I cant have any fun on a stocker!!!
Have fun with that beast Bro!!!
I'll be joining you on team 103 this winter....
