here are some pics of my tach that i just got mounted. i mounted it below the handle bar clamp rather than above it. i think when they are mounted above the clamp they look big and bulky and how i ended up mounting it it seems pretty hiden and you have the really look to find it.
i really like having the tach so i can see how many rpms my bike is really running. with the cams i have in the motor it doesn't really take off till 3000+ rpms and once it gets there it really take offs so i like knowing where i am. you can let me know what you think.
Not bad, and if you like it there its all good. But personally I like it to be a bit higher and more in front where it takes less time away from watching that stupid cager in front of me who can't seem to talk on the phone and drive straight at the same time.
Yes I know its a bit paranoid to think that way, but I haven't survived this long on bikes by taking stupid chances. Or by letting others do it for me.
Be careful of creating a pinch point, while she's just setting.
Looks like it might be real close to speedo and if you have small ones around that put a hand or fingers around the speedo and the front wheel is turned or flips to one side, that could cause some thing to get smashed.
if i get one it will be the combo tach/speedo. local dealer has it on sale for $300 but i think i want the zippers thundermax tach that has all the temps and other things.

I thought about that one too. It looks a 'little' better than the Dakota Digital first because its red and not that sick blue/green, and second because you don't 'really' have to look at it (the tach) to use it.
The way the tach bar graph goes around the top you should, with a little practice, be able to get a fairly good reading without having to actually to take your eye's off the road as long as you almost have to with the straight bar on the Dakota or needle on the HD unit.
Besides, if your a good boy and save your pennies. Later on you can get the Kury flush gas cap and gauge set that will match it.
Oct1949,
Interesting observation, I kinda got out of the habit of looking at things that way since the boys moved out years ago.
But with a year old granddaughter occasionally waddling around the house trying to catch the 'dogdogs' as she calls them I may have to revise or relearn the habit.
