Default Have a problem...

My NT has 250 miles on it. Just got a V&H BR 2-2 exhaust. I was going to put it on yesterday when I got home from work. I took the stock exhaust off and saw a mess at the rear exhaust port. I looked at the outside of the cylinder head and noticed a build up of carbon. The front cylinder is clean. The front exhaust flange is clean too but the rear exhaust flange has a build up of carbon and is completely black. You can see it in the pics I attatched. When I purchased the bike, I noticed a an unusual sound and the dealer told me that it was a normal sound and I didn't have anything to worry about. Well....Not very happy.

If it bugs you clean it off or send pics to the dealer and see what they say if it is still under warranty. It looks okay to me.

The sound you were hearing was an exhaust leak. I can see the carbon deposit on the head around the flange studs. Replace the gaskets and torque things down properly, you should be good to go.

imo...carmell rkc is right on the money. Clean it up, put your new stuff on with correct installation of the gasket and torque specs. Ride on...

I don’t understand. Why is this ok? It looks like an exhaust leak to me. If I read/here one more story where the dealer says, “it’s normal”, I’m going to puke. Bottom line, buy a service manual, torque wrench and teach yourself how to work on your bike, frick’n dealers. It’s ok my azz. Clean that port up and use new exhaust gaskets and then mount your new pipes. Always clean the ports and exhaust studs when re-installing pipes. JMHO.

Clean it all up, install a new cookie and it should be fine. Looks like it was a leaker from the factory with bad seal install
Dealers blow, so get the manual and life will get much better for you.

It's fine just do what everyone else said. I would check the nuts every so often and make sure there tight.
