I have an 07 Softail standard. Does anyone know if there is a batwing fairing that will fit these? Everybody thinks I'm nuts, but I want to make it into a bagger.
I would be worried about a large fairing with that skinny front wheel, I have a 07 Custom and just putting a windshield on it makes it seem like you added a sail to the front end at 7o and up. Pretty scary stuff on the interstate. If you want a bagger just trade for a bagger.
Check my album. Did a lot more distance riding and wanted a radio but no NOT like the handling of the touring bikes. Bike is stable to more than adequate highway speeds.
Regarding a Batwing on a FX front end youre' going to have to ovecome the mounting. you can put the batwings on a FLST if yo come across a cheap front end that might be a way to go.
I just put the tsukayu on my Deluxe. Love it. I had to modify my existing HD "fang" lowers to work with the fairing but together there is no buffetting and the ride is great. The radio is awesome and I have no problem hearing it at speeds up to 90 - sure i can hear it above that as well but have not tried.
You arent nuts at all...and if so, then we are both nuts!!
I am converting my 04 softail standard to a bagger and here is my list of mods to complete this conversion:
Fatboy front/rear fenders
18" CVO Softail Convertable wheel w/ 130 tire
Bassani true duals with Rush 3.5" slash down mufflers
Touring hard bags (I am fabbing my own version of the cycle visions brackets)
Street Glide rear fender extension w/ LED tri bar light
$250 radio batwing fairing off ebay (I had to buy 4 of the windshield quick clamps, and fab up new brackets)
Check out my albums for some progress pics. Tomorrow I will take pics with the exhaust on and done. Next step is the brackets for the bags then paint the fairing and bags to match my tins.
here is one use to be a Night train
Rides great had it up to 110 mph and no problems at all not that I would do that normally wanted to see if it had any stability problems
