New here and looking to buy my first HD. I found a '05 Softail Deluxe with 14k miles with lots of upgrades for $11k. All good so far. When I went to the dealer (not a HD dealer) I noticed that the bike had Screamin' Eagle with "110" on the intake manifold. I'm thinking sweet! After I checked it out this is not a HD setup (e.g.) CVO.
Should I be concerned? Bike looks great, but I'm afraid I may being buying a problem for my first HD.
It does have "110" on the manifold etched in italic black letters. I know that the SE upgrade is pretty expensive, so I guess that's good. A guy told me that much horsepower on that bike could be a problem... I don't really know. Just seems like too good a deal for $11k+ttl. The dealer put a new bake tire on and said they serviced the back brakes. It looks clean, but I'm just worried I'm buying someone else's problem.
I just bought a 2002 Softail Standard with 5300 miles -- 95", SE heads with flow work, HQ-0039 cams, high comp 9.93:1 pistons and some other stuff. Like you, I was concerned about who did the work and how it was holding up. Did some research and found where the work was done and talked to the shop owner (Mike Lozano). That, plus riding the bike and looking it over carefully set my mind at ease.
Your deal doesn't sound bad. Personally, I would find out who/where any work was done and try to get records, talk to the shop. If that's not possible, ask if you can have the bike checked over by a 3rd party (HD shop).

Well, don't assume anything, ask them if it's 110 cubes. Ask ALL of your questions before you buy, not after.
There shouldn't be any reason it would be a problem, since there's Softails running bigger displacement and higher horsepower than that. The only potential problem I can think of is if it had the **** ran out of it for those 14k, and wasn't taken care of.
Thanks everyone for the feedback. Bought the bike tonight and pick it up tomorrow after it gets cleaned up.
I got the name of previous owner off the title and gave him a call. Long story short he said the bike was awesome, ran well, etc. He just was ready for a new ride. The SE was installed by HD along with all service.
I'll post some pics after the weekend and lots of rides!
