i've always liked the look of polished rotors, but i've heard they don't stop worth a crap. i was just wondering if that is true and what you guys think/know about them?? i would rather be able to stop and not be polished, than be not able to stop and have polished rotors.
My "Show Polished" OEM style rotors were scary at first...Then I put on a set of Lyndall pads. Not quite as scary. Then I bled the brakes again and again. Better yet...
Verdict? They still do not stop as good!! But I'm used to em now and would probably lock up a set of normal rotors all the time. The more they wear the better they get?
What polished rotors are you guys running that dont seem any different than the originals?
Mine are a set of mirror polished OEM's and honestly they are slick and slippery almost like they were dipped in lube compared to the stocker. The OEM rotors when polished to a mirror shine absolutely do not stop as well.
Anyone have a close up photo of these polished rotors that stop as well as the stockers? I'm curious....Seriously. Mine are slicker than pig snot.

Hmmm.... I noticed definate and papable decrease in stopping ability with mine. Especially the front.
I never though that maybe I got a bunk set....Mine arent even wearing evenly. I bought em' from some polisher dude on e-bay.
I dont like the way this rotor is wearing at all.....High spots, low spots, very inconsistant and uneven. I should know better. I cant believe I didnt really look closer at this before. These polished rotors I have are not wearing like they should be. They dont rumble or feel warped though?
You cant tell due to the flash but a good portion of the rotor surface where the pads grab is still chrome and shiny. This is with a set of Lyndall Z pads and I have probably 2000 miles on these rotors.
My mechanic friend works at a brake manufacturing company and he told me that chrome or polished brakes need to surfaced finished on the braking areas. Once that was done on mine, there was a huge difference in stopping power.
