I am looking at a 2005 Blue and white deluxe here in Nashville,TN with about 4700 miles on it. I was wondering if anyone had this bike and had any major issues with it. The price is $12,500 at this time with a after market seat and sissy bar. I know it's not the 96B but I just want to cruise on it anyway. Thanks
Deluxes' are awesome bikes. I have not had any problems and love that good old nostalgia! They are highly customizable like any Harley and are truly a great bike. Many, many satisfied owners on this and other forums. Go for it!
I picked up an '05 Deluxe late last fall, bike had 450 miles on it. Great bike!!! I've had several late model Harleys over the last few years, the Deluxe is definitely one of the nicest! I believe there was a service bulletin/recall, something on the valve seals? Check the archives here. You might want to check this out to see if it was done on the bike that you are looking at. Within two weeks of purchasing my Deluxe, I did a 95" build. Seals were bad on mine! Just a heads up.
Seals went south in my 05' 88" as well. It was an issue that year. Lots of bikes ended up being turned into 95"s using customer bought parts and Moco warranty (A good thing).
If the valve seal issue hasnt already been addressed (I cant imagine it wasnt unless the owner lived under or rock or smoked it fairly syeady like!) Make 100% certain that the warranty work was done. If not contact the selling dealer and ask if its still covered. If it isnt? Run dont walk away from that bike!
That's a steal on that bike if its a clear title and the bike is clean. I have the same bike with 18,XXX miles not one problem. Check out my deluxe pix on my profile.
I have an 06 and love it. The only thing was the seat, i'm 6 1 and it set me way too far forward. Put a heritage seat on and all is fine. I'm old enough to place comfort before looking cool.
The Deluxe is a great bike and the 88B is a great engine. It's got plenty of power and easy to work on. $12,500 may be a little on the high side but then again, that bike has got no miles on it for an '05. Only '05 I know with less miles is my Sportster...lol...
