Am also looking at getting the Arlen Ness 3" extensions for my 09 Night Train. So if u purchase this kit http://www.arlenness.com/p-1068-exte...9-softail.aspx they just use your old controls? Then later can u just add pegs/shifters to them?

I've heard seen several posts from owners with after market foot pegs dragging their primary's and pipes, ouch! Your stuff should bolt right up. If you choose to go the cheaper route, you'll have to either paint or chrome the extensions the others are suggesting. I seen one that looked like it might have been aluminum or anodized, looked ok from a distance, but looked like crap up close. Hope this helps.
Is this problem just with the rocker? I'm thinking of doing the 3"
on my 05 standard

The foot peg mount pin is a larger diameter on Rockers, Blacklines and Sportsters than the other's. You can use any peg you want just drill the pin hole out to fit.
I looked at all the extension plates out there for Rockers/ Softails and decided to go with the H-D brackets vs plates. Costs more but I wanted more than plates. I'm using the large Diamond Black pegs, fitted to the stock/ original pins. I also found a Rocker specific peg w/ feeler on the H-D web site. BTW looks like the feelers are threaded on, thus replaceable.
Additionally, the H-D extension brackets fit both Rockers and Blacklines, not positive about the Sporties.
The parts guy at my local H-D dealership and I took the pegs and compared them to the Rocker and Blackline to see why the cataloge said no fit... it's just the pin. As far as we could tell ... Still have some of the stuff on order. Soon as I get everything mounted up I'll post pics.

I have a 2008 Rocker, Im 6' tall and went with the Arlen Ness 3" extensions. I would think 2 or 2.5" would have been enough, but I like how stretched out I am.
I bought mine off ebay for $175, and came with extended brake lines and shifter rod.

As far as changing these, skill level I would put at a 4 out of 10. Pretty easy to change out and follow the instructions.
